This generic wood gasifier stove is a clone of the Silverfire Scout stove.

Gasifier stoves use an internal chamber that capture and burn gasses that are produced when burning wood fuel.  If correctly loaded (thumb-size pieces on the bottom, kindling on top), they operate more efficiently than an open fire.


Pros
  • Packs up very compactly
  • Can also use an alcohol stove or solid fuel within it (e.g. Trangia stove or esbit)
  • Fits within the 775ml MSR Alpine Stowaway pot
  • Includes storage bag 

Cons
  • A wood stove will blacken pots and produce smoke (although less than a regular wood stove)
  • Unsuitable for areas with fire restrictions
  • Must allow to cool down before packing away
  • No tray to catch ash (present in current Silverfire Scout stove)
