The Keith Ti6300 "pressure cooker" is made from lightweight and strong titanium materials.
- A 900ml titanium outer pot with folding handles and locking stainless steel clamps
- A titanium inner cup with water / rice level indicators and a silicone seal
- A titanium lid with heat resistant handle
To use:
- Fill the outer pot with water to a level where it will touch the inner
- Rest the inner within the outer pot. Add rice (and optionally vegetables / meat). Optionally rinse the rice if you have the water
- Add water up to the indicator hole for the amount of rice added (100g, 200g, 280g)
- Secure the lid shut with the locking clamps
- Place on stove and boil the water to steam the food within the inner cup. Do not let it boil dry.
- Rice takes ~15 minutes. Soak to clean
Pros
- Food is not in direct contact with the base of the pot when cooking - lessens burning risk and no stirring / watching required
- Silicone seal keeps steam within the pot, saving fuel and water and cooking more efficiently
- Vent in the lid lets the steam escape, with no dangerous pressures created
- Cook other items like puddings, steam buns, etc
- Use outer pot as a standalone 900ml pot
- If you cover the steam vent, you can use this as a soaking pot (like the Vargo bot)
- Inner cup can be used as a bowl
- Can use the outer pot horizontally as an oven (on coals / wood fire)
- The Jetboil coffee press, regular (affiliate link) fits this pot and can be stored beneath the inner cup
- Lightweight mesh storage pouch with locking drawstring
Cons
- Not a true pressure cooker (the top vent is too large, temperatures attained are too low ~105C vs ~120C)
- Silicone ring a possible point of failure. Probably should be rinsed before the first time cooking
- Locking clamps are metal without insulation that mark the pot lid when clamped (maybe cover with tape?)
- Folding handles have no insulation
- Need to bring a measurement cup for rice (e.g cup from rice cooker)
- Inner cup has small holes to let steam in - therefore not good for liquids (e.g. no dual use as a coffee cup)
- Be careful not to boil dry (risk of warping)
- Steam hotter and more dangerous than boiling water
- Heavier and more expensive than an ultralight titanium pot
